First leg: checkout, the six-hour queue and the fee per method

The first leg runs from the moment you paste a link to the moment a Sugobuy buyer has paid the seller. It is the shortest leg in time and the one where most of the avoidable charges are decided.

Item price plus seller postage, nothing more yet

Sugobuy's fee page writes the total as product cost, plus international shipping, plus a customs fee, where product cost means the item price and the seller's postage to the warehouse. Only the product cost is charged at this stage. The fee page says Sugobuy adds no purchasing fee to orders from regular shopping platforms, and optional extras such as detailed photos are chosen on the confirmation screen.

Two smaller rules shape the first payment. Items from the same seller checked out together pay that seller's domestic postage once. And if a seller raises the price or the postage after you pay, the order switches to Clear Balance and waits for you to pay the difference; Sugobuy says this mostly concerns domestic delivery fees.

Processing fees per payment method

The help article on cross-border payments only says a certain percentage applies. The tutorial's own checkout image is more useful, because it prints the rate beside each method: Mybank 2%, Trustly 2.5%, Alipay 2.8%, BLIK 3.5%, bank card and PayPal 4.3% plus US$0.35, Skrill and Zip 4.5%, PayU 4.6%, Afterpay 7% plus US$1. Balance payment shows none.

On a US$40 order that is the difference between 80 cents with Mybank and US$3.80 with Afterpay. The card top-up help shows PayPal at 4.5% plus US$0.35 instead, charged when you recharge the wallet, so the fee is paid either way; topping up only changes when.

Dollar prices and the site's currency list

Sugobuy shows prices in thirteen currencies. The list behind that display set one US dollar to 6.22 yuan on our October 21, 2026 reading, alongside 0.95 euro and 0.91 pound. The site gives no source, timestamp or written exchange rate policy for those values. Our approach is simple: the number that matters is the converted total on the order page in the currency you will actually pay in, and that is the one to compare against the yuan price on the listing.

If you want to see how a dollar total was reached, switch the display currency to CNY and compare. The yuan figure is what the seller receives; everything above it is conversion.

The buying window by the clock in Beijing

Once paid, the order joins a queue. Sugobuy's processing-time article sets two windows: an order submitted between 08:00 and 18:00 Beijing time is verified and bought within six hours, and one submitted between 18:00 and 08:00 is handled before 2 pm the next day. The exceptions are sellers who do not answer and orders flagged as abnormal.

For a buyer in London, 08:00 to 18:00 in Beijing is midnight to 10:00 in winter. For New York it is roughly 7 pm to 5 am the evening before. Paying in your evening is therefore the fastest route from Europe and the Americas.

Ladder of Sugobuy order statuses from Payment Pending to Stored, with side exits such as Clear Balance and Invalid
The status names you will see in leg 1 and leg 2. Chart by this site from Sugobuy's order status article.

Confirmation pending, Clear Balance, Invalid, Verifying

Three statuses mean a person has stopped your order. Confirmation pending means the buyer needs an answer from you; reply on the order page. Clear Balance means the real cost exceeded what you paid. Invalid covers orders where the name and price do not match, where the item has no pictures or description, or where it is virtual or prohibited. A withdrawn order refunds to your Sugobuy balance, not to your card.

Card payments may also pause in Verifying. Sugobuy's rule: if the status has not changed after 24 hours, look for an email asking for documents. Leave it unanswered for 72 hours and Sugobuy cancels the order, refunding the original payment method.

Size changes: possible until the seller dispatches

Before the seller dispatches, Sugobuy will try to change the size or colour with the seller. After dispatch it will not. From then on the fix is a warehouse return, a fresh order for the right option, and your money for the first item's trip back to the seller. That is why the option check in the Spreadsheet section matters more than any later step.
